Health is Wealth
I want to keep you active doing the things you enjoy whether it is participating in your favourite sport, keeping up with your kids or grandkids or just puttering around in the garden or at home. I went to school for over 10 years to become both a registered massage therapist and osteopathic practitioner and have been practicing since 2001. I chose to study osteopathy after I finished massage therapy school because I wanted to learn more about how all the parts of the body are interconnected. During treatments I apply this knowledge and work to promote health in the body by decreasing tension and increasing circulation and mobility throughout. With good circulation, we can recover faster from injuries and workouts.
I enjoy the variety of having a general practice, treating all ages and ailments. I do take specific interest in issues around the jaw, face, neck and head. Neck pain, pressure behind the eyes, clicking in the jaw, sinus congestion or concussion symptoms are examples of symptoms that can be felt when dysfunction occurs in these areas. I am intrigued by the intricate framework that makes up the head and neck and how the brain, blood vessels, nerves, ligaments and fascia are encased or are passing through, by or attach to different structures. It fascinates me how it is possible to use cranialsacral and fascial techniques to assess and treat restrictions in these areas and work with the body to keep the different parts mobile.
Always wanting to learn more, I am continually advancing knowledge by taking regular courses throughout the year on subjects such as concussions, whiplash, paediatrics, scoliosis, circulation, shoulders and upper extremity, spine, hips and lower extremity and head/ jaw. I am also learning about the profession of osteopathy locally and globally by keeping up to date with provincial and national associations. I served on OsteopathyBC(OBC) as a board member and treasurer from 2013-2023; OBC works to ensure a high standard of osteopathy is available to residents of BC as well as working with sister organizations in the rest of Canada through the Canadian Federation of Osteopaths (CFO).
